2012 Volvo C30 five-door rendered
Auto Express has recently reported some information on the upcoming 2012 Volvo C30 and rendered some images of what the car may look like. The most obvious change to the new C30 will be the five-door platform.
Volvo has expressed its plans to develop a larger car to rival, specifically, the Volkswagen Golf. Last week Volvo’s new CEO Stefan Jacoby, spoke out in public in London about plans to focus the new hatch on being “a derivation of the C30, a Golf competitor”. Jacoby has also said the new style of the C30 will exhibit a design language similar to the XC60, with L-shaped tail lights and a pronounced nose.
Here’s some rendered images of what Volvo might be thinking of. The shape still carries over many of the existing Volvo C30 characteristics, and also offers plenty of traditional design cues, such as the twin headlight arrangement and the high and square grille. Inside, the car is said to showcase Volvo’s minimalist approach to the controls layout.
By adding two rear doors to the new hatch, Volvo also plans to reestablish the brand in Europe by competing against the likes of the Ford Focus, Vauxhall/Opel Astra and Volkswagen Golf
